Let me introduce you to this gorgeous girl Clove, a Husky mix who is 3 months old. Clove currently weighs 20 pounds and this pup still has some growing to do, we expect that Clove will be in and around 50 pounds once fully grown. Clove is a stunner of a dog, she has a beautiful tan coloured coat with some black tips. Her muzzle is dark and her eyes look like she is wearing permanent mascara. Clove is such a sweet natured dog and you can see it when you look into her beautiful brown eyes, she loves looking right at you when you are speaking to her, you almost think that she is much older than she is. This pup is definitely full of mischief and she will constantly be keeping you on your toes.

Clove was taken in by Save A Dog Network with her sibling and then made the big journey to Toronto in order to be taken in by Pound Dog to give her the best chance at finding her forever home. Clove was full of joy and excitement when we brought her into our home and it didn’t take long for her to warm up to her surroundings! She loves to explore her surroundings, she will test and see what she is and is not allowed to play with. Clove has definitely shown some interest in chewing things that are less than ideal, like the underside of some chairs, however she is very quick to receive correction. Her new home will need to make sure that they are diligent with watching her in the home to ensure that they can stop any unwanted chewing before it starts. Clove is great at keeping herself occupied by initiating play with the other dogs, or by finding a good chew bone and taking it to the pet bed.

Clove would do well living in a detached home with a big fenced in backyard for her to roam and explore on a daily basis. She loves to be outside playing but she wants her humans to be outside enjoying the fresh air with her. She absolutely loves her foster dog sisters and wants to run around and play with them when they are outside, once she comes in there is always a bit more play time then usually she finds a nice quiet place to take a nap! Clove’s ideal home would have another playful dog for her to expel some energy, but we also think Clove would do well as an only dog if her new family has lots of time to spend with her. True to her breed, Clove is quite a stubborn little girl and sometimes decides to ignore her humans, and carries on with what she wants to do. Clove is also currently living with a cat, she has certainly shown interest in the cat and has occasionally given chase, but she has never become aggressive. If her forever home has a cat, it would need to be extremely dog savvy as we don’t know how Clove’s prey drive will change as she gets older. Clove also lives with two kids in the house, being as she is still a puppy we have been working on her mouthing and she does better and better every day, she loves when the kids get down on the floor and play with her! Clove loves playing some light tug of war or chasing after a ball or squeaky toy. Clove is excellent with the kids, but we think she would do well if she had children in her forever home that were over the age of 8, that are well versed with proper dog play.

Clove would love a big fenced in backyard to be able to run around and play in, she loves playing outside so much and it is probably her favourite thing to do. Clove will require a fully fenced, escape proof and dig proof backyard, as Huskies are notorious for digging and escaping! Clove is crate trained, so when it is bedtime or time for the humans to leave the house we put her in her crate with a treat. Clove has loved her crate from day one and will happily run right in and wait for her tasty treat. She will occasionally let out a little howl or a bark to let you know that she’s still in there, just in case you forgot, but she always settles down and is happy. Clove is a really good eater and her favourite time of the day is meal time! She is extremely food motivated which makes her training sessions such a breeze.

Clove has been an angel when it comes to her house training. In her first days as a young pup there were some accidents, which is to be expected. Since then, she knows to wait until her outside time to go to the bathroom. Her forever home will need to make sure they remain diligent with her during the first few weeks to ensure that she knows she is to go outside. Clove knows to come when she is called and knows she needs to sit before getting a treat or some pets. Overall, Clove is such a well mannered little girl that she has been an absolute dream to have. Once she gets some playtime outside she mostly likes to lay around and keep an eye on what you’re up to. Clove is a pretty chill and relaxed pup, if you get up and leave the room though you can bet she is going to follow you to see what you’re up to! She doesn’t want to risk missing out on possibly some treats! Clove absolutely loves getting pets and receiving love and affection and she is very eager to return the favour, she will rub up against you and give you lots of kisses.

Clove has only been in a crate while going to and from her vet visits, however she has always been calm. I would expect that she would be a good front seat passenger. Clove has been doing extremely well on her walks, she absolutely loves to go out to see and smell everything she can. She walks very well on her leash and only occasionally pulls if she sees something exciting up ahead. Continued walks will have this girl being a star walker! Basic obedience training with Advanced Obedience will be a must with Clove as it will help her develop a wonderful relationship with her new family, but also it will help her to understand what is expected of her and help set out rules in her new home. Clove is very intelligent and is going to be a very strong willed dog and she will need consistency and structure in her forever home in order for her to continue to thrive throughout her days. Clove is going to be a confident girl and she is not suitable for first time dog owners. Cloves new family will need to have experience with working breed dogs, and be willing to provide ongoing training past the initial basic obedience. We are also looking for a family or person that is fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved. Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly. They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate.

Clove is looking for her forever family with someone who will spend their time walking and playing with her, going to training class, and someone who will relax with her at the end of the day. Ideally she would like to have a large fenced yard with another young playful dog to keep her company and run around with. Clove is such a beautiful, calm and sweet natured dog and she is looking for someone who will love her forever and be active with her daily. Clove has been such an easy dog to love, her eyes and mannerism say it all in how sweet she is, if you’re ready for your days to be filled with lots of walks, playtime, and snuggles then give this gorgeous girl a chance!
