Welcome to the Husky mix puppies!! This is Odie.

We took in a pregnant dog from a rescue in Manitoba, Save a Dog Network, that rescued her from a far north reserve where she wasliving outside, in difficult conditions.  We had Sable, the mother dog, for a couple weeks when she went into labour, resulting in these 2 sweethearts born May the 15th. We know that these puppies are adorable and are sure to attract a lot of attention but we ask you to please read this bio in detail and do your research on Husky’s prior to sending in an application for them should you be interested.  Although not purebred these pups are predominately Husky in nature and this is a breed that although gorgeous and devoted dogs, are not a breed for everyone and are not a suitable breed for first time dogs owners or those who aren’t willing or capable to take them to advanced training and commit to being strong, confident leaders.

Huskies are a moderate sized dog that are strong and strong willed dogs that require an experienced and confident handler.  While their mother is a Husky and Collie mix of about 50lbs, we expect these pups to be bigger than she is.  We don’t know what breed the father is but with the size of these puppies already at 8 weeks of age, we know that it would be a very large breed dog and suspect a large German Shepherd type.  We can’t say for sure what the full grown size of these pups will be but anyone interested should be comfortable and wanting a dog that will probably be 70 to 80bs and maybe more.

We are looking for a family or person for these pups that is dedicated to training and socializing a puppy.  The Husky breed is independent dog by nature so extra socialization while young is needed to bring out the best in their personalities.  These pups should be taken everywhere and introduced to as many people as possible.  These are not suitable dogs for someone looking for a backyard dog.  They are devoted family dogs and need to be members of the family.  We also will only consider homes for these pups that have children over the age of 8yrs old if there are kids in the home.  These pups are very nippy, bouncy, and active and require a ton of attention and training and the energy of younger children will escalate their already high energy level and will not be a good fit. They will require active people who will ensure that they get the appropriate amount of daily exercise to stay fit and happy.

We will only consider homes for the pups where someone is home or has the capabilities to come home throughout the day.  Puppies need to be taken outside for bathroom breaks very regularly when they are small and will not be able to hold it for an 8hr work day.  We are also looking for families that are fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved.  Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly.  They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate.  We are also looking for a family that will crate train the puppies as we fully believe that this is the best for pups and offers them a quiet and secure “den” to call their own.  A crate trained pup is a blessing as it offers a safe place to put them when you can’t be watching them all the time.

Adopters must live within a reasonable distance (within an hour) of Cambridge as these pups must be returned to our vet at 6mths of age to be spayed/neutered (included in adoption cost).  Owner must be able to drop off and pick up pup for this surgery.  Adopters will be responsible for the continuation of puppy vaccinations and all other required vet care at their own veterinarian though.  These pups have everything medically that puppies of their age should have and have been microchipped as well.  Adopters must also not have any holidays away planned for months coming up after adoption or be planning to move in the near future. Stability is key in months after an adoption.

We will be expecting our adoptive families to attend puppy socialization class with their new pup immediately upon adoption along with, at minimum, level 1 obedience school AND advanced obedience after. The guidance and lessons learned in puppy classes are very important to getting your pup off to a good start.  We handle these pups every day and will be offering them everything they need to be the best pups they can be when they leave our care but we need the adoptive families to take over for us when they get the pups home.  We take our responsibilities to these pups very seriously and only want the best for them.  We adore these puppies and will settle for nothing less than a dedicated, loving family that is well aware of the breed requirements and the needs of a puppy and this breed mix. We also are looking for families that want the dogs they will grow to become, not just the little bundle of furry cuteness.  If you have been thinking about adding a high energy breed puppy to your family and have the time and patience to properly raise a pup then they may just be perfect for you.

Odie is the male pup and he has a diamond shape on his forehead.  He is a sucky and likes to cuddle in your lap getting belly rubs. He is friendly and busy and is a good eater.  His sister, Odette, has more cream markings on her face and her fur is showing signs of having some sable colouring coming through just like her mom.  Odette is the adventurer and she is braver than her brother.  She is the leader of their pack of 2 and is a friendly, happy pup. She also likes cuddles and belly rubs, but after she has been exploring!

Anyone interested in these pups must understand that we won’t be accepting applications for a specific pup as we will be matching these pups to their best family fits.    Input from adopters about preference will be taken into consideration but final decisions as to which puppy suits their family the best will be up to us. They both have specific temperaments and personalities and requirements and we want to ensure that the pups go to homes that match their personalities best. We know you will fall in love with them as deeply as we have when you meet them.  They are simply adorable puppies.  They will be loving, devoted family dogs in the right home.  Maybe this home is yours?  If so, please apply for them and tell us some more about yourselves!
