ADOPTED
So Adorable! Kylee was one of three puppies that were found alone in a box at a park. They were far too young to be taken from their mother, only 4/12 weeks old. The conditions they were in were not a proper place for these sweet baby girls, as they all had some skin problem, which we got them immediate care and they are now healing well with the treatment they were given. We don’t have any information on the mother or father; they are a mixed breed of German Shepherd and Labrador Retriever and other breed(s). She is 9weeks old now and ready to find her forever home.
Kylee will be large but not massive (about 55-70lbs full grown), sturdy, medium energy dog capable of doing anything you wish to participate in, she is already showing signs that she will be by your side interested in everything you’re doing. And will also welcome outings of hikes and ventures. With her breed mixes we expect her to be a very intelligent dog that will make a great family pet; she is so attentive already at this early age. Kylee is a great mix of breeds for a family dog…. not too small not too big…. gentle, friendly natured…. active but not too active. Of course, you have to get through the crazy puppy stage, but the dog she will become, when trained and socialized properly, will be a fantastic dog!
For her forever home will only consider a home for her where someone is home or has the capability to come home throughout the day. Puppies need to be taken outside for bathroom breaks very regularly when they are small and will not be able to hold it for an 8hr work day. We are also looking for families that are fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved. Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly. They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house-training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate. We are also looking for a family that will crate train as we fully believe that this is the best for pups and offers them a quiet and secure “den” to call their own. A crate trained pup is a blessing as it offers a safe place to put them when you can’t be watching them all of the time.
We will consider a home for Kylee with children over 8yrs of age. Puppies have terrible nippy/jumpy/bitey stages and will be too much for younger children. If there will be young children in the home (8-11yrs) then we would need the family to be experienced dog owners who are fully aware of how to manage a young, excitable puppy with young, excitable children. Supervision is key and the adults in the home would need to ensure that puppy/children management is a task they wish to take on. She can be a little drama queen and demanding. Her family needs to take obedience training and socialization seriously and have the time to dedicate in the 1st year of her life. The more that is done in the 1st year, the better dog she will be!
A home with or without other dogs is just fine, she does have an older foster sibling that she does adore. She would not be suitable for a home with another female dog but a playful, confident male dog in the home would be a nice fit for her. A home with a cat would be fine as we’ll keeping in mind the proper training and supervision is key around a cat. Kylee won’t be suitable for apartment or condo high-rise living. She would love her people to be active and outdoorsy as she will need a couple walks a day in all weather. She will be suited for higher energy activities so very active people would be a great fit, but she will not be super high energy dog that will need to be ran km’s every day. She will require more than just simple walks around the block though. A home with a good sized fenced in yard would be ideal and convenient for puppy training but is not mandatory.
Kylee is too young to be spayed before adoption so potential adopters must live within a reasonable distance (within an hour) of Cambridge as she must be returned to our vet at 6 months of age to be spayed (included in adoption cost). Adopters must be able to drop her off in the morning and pickup later that day for this surgery. Adopters will be responsible for the continuation of puppy vaccinations and all other required vet care at their veterinarian of choice. She will have had everything medically that puppies their age should have and has been microchipped as well. The forever family must also not have any holidays away planned for months coming up after adoption or be planning to move in the near future. Stability is key in months after adoption.
We will be expecting our adopt families to attend puppy socialization class with Kylee immediately upon adoption, along with, at minimum, level 1 obedient school after. The guidance and lessons learned in puppy classes are very important to getting your pup off to a good start. We take our responsibilities very seriously and only want the best for her. We adore Kylee and will settle for nothing less than a dedicate, loving family that is well aware of the breed requirements and the needs of a puppy. We also are looking for families that want the dog they will grow to become, not just the little bundle of furry cuteness. If you have been thinking about adding a large breed puppy to your family and have the time and patience to properly train a pup then Kylee may just be perfect for you. We know you will fall in love with Kylee as deeply as we have when you meet. Kylee is simply adorable!
