Meet Our Irresistible Bulldog Mix: Bubba!
Are you ready to fall head over heels in love with a furry companion who’s as sweet as can be? Look no further because Bubba, our one-year-old Bulldog mix, is here to melt your heart and become your new best friend! At a sturdy 30 pounds, Bubba is the perfect size for snuggling, playing, and exploring the world together.
Bubba comes to us as a rescue from a local puppy mill, where he was used as a breeding dog. He’s since been neutered and will now live his life as someone’s couch-cuddling buddy, not as a dog used for profit. Bubba is a hilarious little guy, who despite having lived in less-than-ideal conditions his short life, is just as happy as can be.
Bubba is the embodiment of everything you could wish for in a canine companion. This funny and spirited bulldog is the life of the party, always eager to bring joy and laughter into your home. His charming and goofy antics are sure to bring a smile to your face, and his playful nature will brighten even the gloomiest of days. Bubba’s delightful spirit will make you wonder how you ever lived without him!
Bubba is fully house-trained but since he is a young, male dog we would encourage you to be very watchful the first week or two with him, as he does like to mark his surroundings. This behaviour eased at our home after the 2nd week with him, but we also worked hard on potty training and ensuring he knew the correct places to lift his leg. He’s since caught on and has been great ever since. Bubba is independent yet loves human companionship and affection. He prefers to be by you or on you if you’re relaxing on the couch. Bubba is also quite friendly and has yet to meet a stranger. He absolutely loves making friends, young or old. He loves to stop and say hello to every person who passes by when we are out for a walk or a hike. He’s very outgoing!
Behind that adorable, wrinkled face is a sharp and inquisitive mind. Bubba is not just a pretty face; he’s also pretty smart. He’s a quick learner, eager to please, and is always up for a mental challenge. Teaching him new tricks and commands will be an absolute breeze, and you’ll be amazed at how fast he grasps them. Whether it’s fetching a ball or showing off his impeccable manners, Bubba is always ready to impress.
If you’re an active individual or a family who loves outdoor adventures, Bubba is your ideal partner in crime. This athletic bulldog thrives on physical activity and would be thrilled to accompany you on hikes, jogs, or just some high-energy playtime at the park. Bubba’s love for movement knows no bounds, and he’ll keep up with your active lifestyle with enthusiasm and vigor. He loves his “walkies” and gets very excited when we get his leash from the closet. He has a 2-3 km walk each morning and about 2 km each evening, with plenty of backyard time or other enrichment activity in between. He has a few chew toys that keep him busy, but would much rather play with our dog.
His overall health is great and he’s been thoroughly checked out by PDR’s vets. Bubba has been neutered, microchipped and has received his rabies shots, along with the recommended doses of heartworm medications. He did have some minor dental issues (tartar buildup) which we have had taken care of with a dentistry and he is now in great shape. Due to his short coat and stature, Bubba will need a coat to keep him warm in the winter months.
Bubba is not just a bulldog; he’s a true Renaissance mutt! His adaptability and eagerness to learn new things make him a fantastic addition to any home. Whether you have other pets, older children (over 7yrs old) , or live alone, Bubba is ready to fit seamlessly into your life and bring endless joy and companionship. Bubba has lived with our year+ old Bernadoodle and they get along just like brothers should. Bubba looks up to our dog, and follows his lead but can be a bit jealous when we give our dog affection and Bubba is nearby. He prefers 100% of our affection. Our dog is very playful and has certainly brought out Bubba’s playful nature. While there’s a significant size difference between our dog and Bubba, they have figured out how to play and run around. In the house, Bubba is often leaning on or sitting within our dog’s “personal space” which we feel just provides him comfort. We have limited his interaction with any other dogs, but the ones he’s had a chance to meet, he has been great with. He will pancake down on the ground when another dog is approaching and stay low to the ground until he feels ready to say hello. Sometimes he would rather a dog just pass on by, which is just fine for us! We feel Bubba will be great with other dogs but am unsure how she would react to cats or other smaller creatures. He doesn’t have a high prey drive but has chased off squirrels in our backyard and while on walks. We have been working towards a more respectful walk with him and he’s making great progress but isn’t fully leash trained yet.
Bubba is very comfortable exploring our entire home, checking out every room. He loves to explore! He mainly sleeps on one of his beds during the day or finds a sunbeam to lie on, but at night or when we’re away, he sleeps comfortably in his crate. He eats most of his meals in his crate and is very easy to get in when asked. The only times we’ve heard him bark was when we were crate training him. We’ve yet to hear him bark or howl aside from when we first got him, so he’s quite quiet-natured. He will let us know when he wants inside or outside by sitting by the backyard door.
He has adapted well to car rides despite being quite afraid during the first few rides. Now he understands all is ok and looks out the window or snoozes away. I think he’ll be a great road trip buddy in no time!
We feed him twice a day and give him a healthy snack in the early afternoon. He is provided with plenty of fresh water throughout the day. One thing we quickly noticed is that Bubba will graze his meals at first, then likes to see what, if anything, was left by our dog in his bowl. Once he realizes there’s nothing else left for him by our dog, he will go back and finish his meals. We have had to provide a “slow feeding” bowl for Bubba since we noticed he would sometimes throw up his meal shortly after eating. The slow-feeding bowl has helped! He’s a current fan of beef-based kibble but has also had a chance to gnaw on some raw bones or bully sticks left behind by her foster brother, which he really enjoyed. Bubba loves to sleep and often falls asleep wherever he may be. On the couch, outside, on the floor, or in his crate. He can be running around like mad one minute, and as soon as he settles into a comfy place to snooze, he’s fast asleep and dreaming. We’ve heard him snore a couple of times, but despite his short nose, it’s not as much as we had anticipated. He does find the oddest sleeping positions which is quite comical to see.
If you’re looking for a furry friend to share your life with, look no further than Bubba. This amazing one-year-old bulldog is ready to bring love, laughter, and boundless enthusiasm into your world. Don’t miss the chance to make Bubba a part of your family and provide him with the loving forever home he so deserves. Bubba is not just a dog; he’s an extraordinary addition to your family waiting to happen!
