ADOPTED
It’s time!!! The boy band puppies are officially up for adoption!!! Ready to go to new homes start of August. PLEASE read the bio below in detail There is a link right in the 1st paragraph of the bio directing you to our website. The adoption application is on our dogs for adoption page, and by perusing our website pages you will get all your questions answered.
please note: we will be placing these pups into homes based on temperament and best suitability for each particular home. Please don’t apply for a specific puppy as we can’t make any guarantees which pup will be the best fit for you. We don’t base selections on colour. Please keep in mind a good temperament and personality match is the most important factor for a successful puppy adoption. We will be selecting pups for families based on this, and of course with the families input as well. So families with open minds and the desire to have their best puppy match only please!
We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-
mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.
Aren’t they adorable? These puppies are 7 Cocker Spaniel X puppies. They are ALL BOYS. Their mom is a purebred wavy coated Cocker Spaniel. We don’t know who dad is but as mom came from a puppy mill we expect that dad was a Cockapoo which would make these pups ¾ Cocker and ¼ Poodle. Typically Cockapoos are a 50/50 mix of Cocker and Poodle but these boys weigh heavily in the Cocker Spaniel DNA and its only in the slightly wavier coats of some of them do we see Poodle inklings so we do not believe that dad was a full Poodle. They will grow to be the size and weight of an average Cocker Spaniel so expect around 25 to 30lbs full grown. In honour of them all being boys we call them our boy band litter and chose male singer names for the pups. We happily present to you: Bieber, Elvis, Bono, Garth, Usher, Pharrell and Snoop Dogg. Mom Mallory is a lovely natured dog and the pups have taken on her temperament. Soon after taking Mallory into our care she went into labour and these 7 precious babies were born and are being raised in a loving home with fosters very experienced in puppy raising.
The pups won’t be able to go to their forever homes until the start of August but we are posting them now in the hopes of having their adoptive families selected and ready to take them home when the time is right. We know their mother very well and she is a total love of a dog. She is quiet and loving and gentle natured. Pups tend to take on the personality of their mothers so we fully expect these pups to be just as darling as she is. Mom is a red, wavy coated Cocker with a heavy, silky coat. She is a beautiful dog. So if you love the look, temperament and energy level of a Cocker Spaniel these pups might just be what you are looking for! With the mix of breeds in them, we expect these pups to be great family pets. These pups are super friendly and love nothing more than to play with you and cuddle with you. They are quite energetic now but will mature into moderate energy dogs. The pups are being socialized with other dogs and cats in their foster home. A home with a puppy friendly dog would be fine, but not mandatory. They will be suited to home with children over 6yrs of age as long as the adults in the home are dog savvy and experienced and know that excited children energy and excited puppy energy means jumping, nipping, scratching etc. Supervision at all times when kids and puppy are interacting is necessary. Older kids, teens, or an adult only home is ideal. These pups would be
fine for a couple planning on having children in a couple years as they will be lovely family dogs when grown as long as the work is put into them now to train them and socialize them very well their first year and beyond.
Anyone interested in one of the pups needs to live within 1hr of Cambridge, Ont as they must be returned to our vet later on to be neutered. They will be adopted out on a contract that stipulates this and it is mandatory. This is covered in the adoption fee.
We will only consider homes for the pups where someone is home or has the capabilities to come home throughout the day. Puppies need to be taken outside for bathroom breaks very regularly when they are small and will not be able to hold it for an 8hr work day. Please keep in mind that if you work from home you need to have a plan in place for a crating schedule for the pup as puppies need 100% of your supervision when not in their crates; you cannot expect to work and have the puppy running around in the room with you as they won’t have your full attention. We are also looking for families that are fully aware of the time commitment of a puppy and the work involved.
Puppies are a total joy and bring so much love and happiness into a home, but you cannot underestimate the work and time involved in raising a puppy properly. They need constant supervision while young to expedite the house training stage and to ensure they aren’t chewing on anything inappropriate. We are also looking for a family that will crate train the puppies as we fully believe that this is the best for pups and offers them a quiet and secure “den” to call their own. A crate trained pup is a blessing as it offers a safe place to put them when you can’t be watching them all the time.
We will be expecting our adoptive families to attend puppy socialization class (if the local training facility offers this) with their new pup immediately upon adoption, along with, at minimum, level 1 obedience school after. The guidance and lessons learned in puppy classes are very important to getting your pup off to a good start. We handle these pups every day and will be offering them everything they need to be the best pups they can be when they leave our care but we need the adoptive families to take over for us when they get the pups home. We take our responsibilities to these pups very seriously and only want the best for them. They are being raised in our home, in our care, and have been since the first day when they made their presence into the world. We adore these puppies and will settle for nothing less than a dedicated, loving family
that is well aware of the breed requirements and the needs of a puppy and this breed mix. We also are looking for families that want the dogs they will grow to become, not just the little bundle of furry cuteness. If you have been thinking about adding a medium breed puppy to your family and have the time and patience to properly raise a pup then they may just be perfect for you. We know you will fall in love with them as deeply as we have when you meet them. They are simply adorable puppies. The only question will be, which one to choose?
