Glinda

ADOPTED

Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. At Pound Dog Rescue, we believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.

Glinda is one spunky little pup looking to find her “Forever Home”!!   She is ready and raring to go no matter what adventure comes her way! Glinda is a 4 month old Collie/Poodle mix.  She has beautiful sable coloured fur with a darker face and a stripe of white from her forehead to her nose.  She has a long tail that curls up with a spot of white on the tip and on the top of all four paws.

She is full of personality and loves to be with her people.   Anyone arriving home after only a few hours is greeted with full body tail wags and lots of kisses.  You will always feel loved with this beautiful soul.

This sweet girl was rescued after breaking her leg at just 8 weeks old. She came to us with a pretty pink cast as she awaited surgery on her back left leg.  Glinda has had orthopedic surgery and comes complete with a metal plate and a few pins.  She spent 4 long weeks confined to her crate and has made a full recovery.  She runs and jumps as if nothing ever happened!

Glinda is looking for an active forever home.  She is just beginning to enjoy life and all that it has to offer.  This sweet girl is up for pretty much anything. She enjoys cottage life, boating, quiet campfires, hiking and lazy days in the sun. She is willing to embrace every new adventure head on and is happy no matter what that might be.  Whether she is enjoying home life or off to the great white north, you know you will always have a companion who is willing to be right by your side!

She is currently teething and will need a home with lots of toys to chew and activity to tire her out as she works through this stage of her life.  She has been crate trained and is kept in her crate overnight and when on her own to keep her safe while she is not supervised.

Glinda is a high-energy dog who would love a home with a fenced yard to bring her zoomies outside!! She would also do well in most homes as long as she is walked regularly and kept active. She is currently enjoying a morning and evening walk.  When full grown she will need running activity whether through play in the yard, or actual running. She will not be sated with just simple walks around the neighbourhood, this is an active breed mix of herding breeds so she needs equally active people.

Our Sweet Glinda definitely loves to be with her people.  Whether you are outside or in, she loves to follow and be part of all the action.  Couch cuddles after her morning zoomies are her favourite pass time!  She will casually climb up beside you on the couch, curl up in a ball and then slowly stretch out to ensure she is touching you in some way or another.

I would like to make very clear here that Glinda is NOT hypoallergenic.  She is a “Colliedoodle” which means she is part Rough Collie, a shedding dog.   If you are allergic to dogs and expecting to do this without sneezing you are out of luck! She will not be a suitable dog for allergy sufferers, sorry!  Glinda also requires regular brushing.  Regular trips to the groomer to keep her nicely trimmed will also be required.

Glinda is kept in her crate overnight and when she is not being supervised to keep her safe.  She is a very curious little girl and loves to collect socks and shoes whenever possible.    She will be very vocal in her crate if she needs to go out and will cry out in the night rather than have and accident in her crate.  Taking away her water before bedtime will help her make it through the night. Up until now she has spent very little time outside of her crate.  Her new family will have to carefully supervise her as she explores her new world.

Glinda is very energetic around other dogs and her people.  She loves the interaction and would love to have a male dog playmate. She currently shares a home with another foster pup and enjoys non-stop playtime.   She likes to be in charge and uses her natural herding instincts while racing around the living room.   She is super- fast and can maneuver herself around chairs and tables with ease. She would be a good match for a younger active dog. Sometimes she tries to nip at feet when she becomes overly excited.  Her new family will need to continue to work on this as she works through her puppy phase.

Glinda would do amazing in many environments as long as she is kept active.   Her loving nature is a great fit for just about any household.   Although she has not shared a home with children, we believe she would do well with children over 8.  She is a lovable puppy with loads of love to give!

Glinda is a smart dog and is highly trainable.  She has learned to “sit” and “laydown” in a very short time.  She will go to the door when she needs to go out.  Adopters will need to pay attention to her cues while house training in a new environment.   It is important that those adopting will commit to post-adoption training so that she can become her best-self.

When Glinda first came to her foster home, she was terrified of travelling in a car.  With a few short fun trips and a few longer ones, she has learned to adapt to travel.  She will sometimes seem anxious for the first few minutes in the car but soon calms down.   She has travelled long distance without any issues as she quietly sleeps on the back seat.

Since Glinda’s world has opened up, she looks forward to spending time outside and long walks around the town. She just loves to explore and prances along the sidewalk.  She pulls a little on the leash and will attempt to visit with any new canine friend she meets along the way.

Our “EVER-HAPPY” Glinda is patiently waiting for her New Family!!  If you are looking for whole-hearted love than look no further!!!
