ADOPTED

Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. At Pound Dog Rescue, we believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.

Magoo is an adorable 3-year-old Maltese weighing approximately 10.5 pounds. With his curious nature and affectionate personality, he’s a real sweetheart who is eager to settle into his forever home.

Magoo came to us from a rural shelter where he was picked up as a stray and sadly never claimed by his original family. Despite his uncertain start, he has adjusted well and is ready to experience the love and stability of a permanent home. It appears he was previously loved and cared for by someone, so we can’t understand why no one came forward to claim this sweet pup. He is very comfortable around people and was already house trained.

He is a genuinely curious dog that loves to explore his surroundings. He is adorably clumsy and will often trip over his own paws. The little fellow loves nothing more than spending quality time with his people. He is genuinely affectionate and thrives on cuddle time with his family.

It’s important to note that he has shown some mild signs of separation anxiety, and he tends to bark when left alone. This is totally manageable with the right home environment and routine. However, he would do much better in a detached house rather than an apartment setting where barking could disturb neighbors.

A home where someone is present more frequently would be ideal for Magoo. Having another dog in the home would also be helpful but isn’t an absolute necessity. Magoo has shown wonderful compatibility with the other dogs in his foster home and clearly benefits from their company. He hasn’t been observed around cats but has shown an interest in chasing squirrels and birds, so a cat free home would likely be best. He could also live in a home with children at least 10 years old who understand how to respect a dog’s boundaries.

Magoo has been working on his crate training while in his foster home. However, he does tend to become more anxious when placed in a crate. He much prefers an X-pen setup instead of crate as it allows him slightly more space. This ensures he is safely confined without feeling trapped.

His adoptive family will need to be patient as he continues to build confidence with crate training. Introductory obedience training will also help to continue to build on his confidence levels. At Pound Dog Rescue, we believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.

Magoo enjoys going for walks and being active, but he doesn’t require excessive amounts of exercise—regular daily walks and playtime will keep him happy and content.

After coming to Pound Dog Rescue, Magoo was seen by our veterinarian and is in good health. He is up to date on all his vaccinations and has recently been neutered, so he’s all set for his new family.

Magoo is non-shedding, so his new family will need to ensure they are prepared for ongoing grooming and coat maintenance. Regular brushings when his coat is longer and trips to the groomer will be necessary to avoid matting.

Magoo is a loving little companion who simply needs patience, consistency, and plenty of affection. He’s ready to move past his stray dog days and experience what it means to be truly loved and cared for. With someone willing to help him work through his separation anxiety and provide the companionship he craves, Magoo will blossom into the sweet, devoted companion he was always meant to be.
