ADOPTED
Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. At Pound Dog Rescue, we believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.
This tiny darling is Vivi and she is a 2 year old,Shih Tzu X Yorkie that is extra small, only 6lbs, and is at an optimum weight. She is grey and white with beautiful long fur that needs to be groomed regularly. She is a very high maintenance grooming dog so only those who love daily brushing and coat care need apply. If you want to wake up to pure joy and happiness Vivi is your girl! She has the sweetest personality!!
Vivi came in as an unclaimed stray to a dog shelter in Quebec and made her way to our rescue for her chance at a loving forever home. She has settled in to her foster home quite nicely. Vivi is very confident and didn’t let the long trip to Ontario or her new surroundings phase her in the slightest.
Vivi would be best placed in an active home and where she will not be left for long periods of time. She would do well in most home environments but ideally would love a home with a fenced yard as she loves zooming around the yard in her foster home. She would also be able to get her zoomies out if her person ran with her so that is always an option too if there is no fenced yard. Vivi is a busy little girl who has lots of energy as
she is a young dog. She is more energetic than you would expect for such a cute little dog so she needs her person or people to be active and capable of multiple long, fast paced walks a day. She likes going for walks and doing zoomies around the garden. Just when you think she would be tired she brings her toys to play. She is a wonderful retriever! She is very entertaining and needs her people to be able to keep up with her. She would love to go hiking, even running, and she would be a great dog for dog sports like agility or flyball. Vivi’s leash walking is improving daily. Her nose is always on the ground but she is learning very quickly what is expected. Her post adoption obedience classes will be great for her to continue to learn leash manners and to work her mind as well as her body. She aims to please and a ‘good girl ‘ makes her very happy so positive training methods will work very well with her.
Vivi doesn’t seem to be bothered by any loud noises and doesn’t mind the vacuum which is good as she does shed a bit. She cannot be considered hypoallergenic but is low shedding. As mentioned prior, her fur is silky and smooth and matts up easily so she needs daily brushing and tidying. She will also be a dog that requires regular professional grooming appointments to stay tangle free and looking her cutest.
Vivi is a little girl so she requires extra care due to her Xsmall size and handling requirements. She is not suitable for a home with small children as she is too tiny and fragile and could easily be hurt if a child handled her roughly or tripped over her. She would be fine for a home with children over 10yrs of age who are dog savvy and know how to properly handle a small dog. She also won’t be suited for anyone with mobility issues as she easily gets underfoot and is a tripping hazard.
Vivi will start your day with a smile. She has the sweetest personality from the time you let her out of her crate in the morning with her happy little face to start your day. She starts her day with a treat sitting nicely by her foster brother cat. Then she likes to sit on her foster mom’s lap getting belly rubs while her foster mom drinks her coffee. Vivi is a lap dog and loves to be close to you or snuggling but also enjoys her fluffy bed on the floor. Vivi is pretty much house trained but need to be taken out regularly. Because she is a little girl with a tiny bladder she does require more frequent bathroom breaks. Vivi sleeps in her crate at night in the bedroom but does expect a treat. She is not an early riser! Vivi has been left during the day for
short periods of time in her crate and does well. She would not do well though being left for a full work day. She needs to be let out every few hours.
Vivi travels well in the car in her crate. She has experienced camping and boating and did really well. She is very adaptable. She just wants to be with her humans. She is an outgoing dog with a great personality and is up for anything!
Vivi lives with a cat in her foster home. She would like to play with him but realized he doesn’t do play. She is very respectful of him and would be fine with a dog savvy cat that wouldn’t harm her. Vivi is young and energetic so needs to be in a calm state to meet other dogs for her own safety and size. Vivi has been exposed to other dogs in the family and did very well. She would be fine in a home with a small male dog but would like to be the only female dog in the home. Vivi knows her status as a total princess and doesn’t wish to share her crown with another female dog in the home. She is too tiny tho to live with a large dog as she could be easily harmed inadvertently though play or getting underfoot of a large dog.
Vivi listens well and is a very smart girl and takes to training well. She will come to her name when called. She will sit for her treat and takes her treats gently. She also sits to throw a toy and retrieves her toys back to you. As long as Vivi gets her walks and gets her energy out she is just as happy to relax with her humans when they relax in her fluffed bed, on the boat or in her camp chair!
Vivi is very social and loves everyone. She still needs to work on her manners for greeting people as she tends to want to jump up. This is a work in progress and we have to ask others not to encourage this behaviour too as she is just so cute that people often coo over her and praise her when she jumps up on them. Its hard being so irresistible!! HA!
Vivi is a love and treasure for any family. She will bring joy into your heart . She is happy doing whatever her humans are doing. She goes everywhere and is very well behaved. If you are looking for a devoted companion and a partner in all of life’s adventures, Vivi is your gal. She wants a busy life full of fun, visiting new places, exploring new trails, meeting new people. If you love the outdoors, and want a tiny dog to do all the bid dog things with, than Vivi just may be the dog for you!
