ADOPTION PENDING

Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. At Pound Dog Rescue, we believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process.

Meet Marge – Your Golden Girl!

Marge is a 2-year-old Golden Retriever with a petite frame and a rich golden coat that glows like sunshine. Her soulful doe eyes will melt your heart, and her personality is just as beautiful – sweet, affectionate, and a little spunky. She loves to love, and when she’s not zooming around being silly, you’ll find her curled up in her favorite cozy spot, snoring like a champ.

Marge’s story began in a puppy mill where life was far from kind. She was used for breeding and arrived with wounds that needed care. While she’s healed physically, she’s still learning to trust and feel secure. She struggles with separation anxiety and doesn’t enjoy being crated for long periods, so patience and understanding will be key as she continues to build confidence. Every day, she blossoms a little more, and watching her transformation is truly rewarding.

Marge would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time, work-from-home families would be perfect. She loves her walks and has gained confidence exploring the backyard, but her favorite activity is snuggling on the couch. She would do best with older kids (over 8yrs) who can help with training and provide the calm, structured environment she loves. She’s adjusted well to city life and isn’t fazed by traffic noise, though she’ll happily alert you to visitors with a bark or two.

Marge is the definition of a happy golden. Her tail wag is so strong it sounds like a drumbeat against the furniture; it could knock down a lamp (I can say from experience, this is true)! She craves attention and does a hilarious little air-lick when she’s excited to see you. She’s easygoing even when recovering from injuries and trusts her people completely. Mealtime is a celebration with her adorable growls and full-body wiggles, and she’s perfected the backwards happy dance. She enjoys being brushed, tolerates baths with some encouragement, and is fully house-trained. Watching her dig into blankets to make the perfect cozy nest is pure joy.

Crating is still a work in progress for Marge. She’s comfortable for short periods but struggles to relax in a crate for long durations. High value treats like stuffed Kongs help ease her anxiety, but she would prefer a home where crating isn’t a big part of her routine. She sleeps best outside the crate and loves having cozy spots to curl up in. Her new family should be prepared to continue working on crate training slowly and positively.

Marge currently lives with two older dogs and a cat. She loves snuggling with her foster brothers and is slowly learning to play. She’s curious about the cat and would likely do best in a home with dog-savvy cats or no cats as she likes to chase him and shows him the play-stance not quite understanding that he is not a dog. On walks, she’s calm and unbothered by other dogs or wildlife—an unbothered queen through and through.

Older children are best for Marge, as she loves routine and might find younger kids overwhelming. She thrives in a calm, predictable environment.

Marge knows “sit” and is working on recall. She’s respectful in the home and doesn’t chew on things. Continued training will help her bond with her new family and become the perfect companion she’s meant to be. She’s eager to please and loves routine, so training will be a positive experience for her.

Marge is fully vetted, spayed, and healthy. She’s calm at the vet but may show anxiety if left alone. She’s ready to start her next chapter with a family who will love her as much as she loves them.

Marge is the ultimate golden girl – sweet, loyal, and ready to shower her forever family with love. She needs a patient home where someone is around most of the day and can give her the structure and reassurance she craves. In return, you’ll get a devoted companion who will snuggle on the couch, wag her tail like a drumbeat of happiness, and greet you like you’re the best thing that ever happened to her – every single time you walk through the door. What more could you want? Marge will be yours, always excited to see you, always ready to make your day brighter. If you’re looking for a dog who will love you endlessly and keep life fun, Marge is your girl!
